Federal Financial Aid & Appalachian need-based opportunities
Eligibility and consideration for one of the many need-based scholarships offered by Appalachian State University will give preference to students who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by December 1. Continuing students receiving a renewable Appalachian scholarship opportunity must complete a new FAFSA each year.
Based on information provided on the FAFSA along with other criteria (high school, county, major, etc.) you may qualify for one of our need-based scholarships as well as state or federal scholarships and/or grants. You do not have to complete the FAFSA for consideration of the merit-based scholarships. To learn more about applying for need-based aid, please visit the Financial Aid office website.
