How to Apply

First-year students

Apply for Admission by November 1

You are automatically considered for most first-year scholarships when you apply to App State by Nov. 1 (Early Action). 

To be considered for most need-based scholarships, including the Murray Family Access Program, you must complete the 2024-25 FAFSA by February 1, 2024.

The Chancellor's Scholarship (and admission to the Honors College), Beaver College of Health Sciences scholarships and Reich College of Education scholarships require additional application steps that can be found in your MyMountaineer Portal once you've submitted your application for admission.

Transfer students

You are automatically considered for most transfer scholarships when you apply to App State via your admissions application. Priority review goes to students who apply early. 

Apply for Watauga Residential College in your MyMountaineer Portal. 

Continuing students

Complete your scholarship application by February 7

Currently enrolled students may apply through the Appalachian Scholarship Application Portal (ASAP) and will automatically be matched to scholarships you are eligible to receive.
