How to apply

Follow these steps to apply for App State's Signature Scholarships and Selective Academic Programs

Important Reminders: 

  • You are automatically considered for the ACCESS program and Appalachian Excellence Scholarship (AES) if you meet the application deadlines.
  • Apply for Watauga Residential College in your MyMountaineer Portal. 

Step 1: Apply for Admission by November 1

Submit your application for admission by the Early Action deadline. All application materials must be submitted by November 15 to be considered for Signature Scholarships and Selective Academic Programs. 

Step 2: Complete your Scholarship Application by November 15

If you have submitted your application for admission, please review your email and your MyMountaineer Portal for instructions on starting your application for Signature Scholarships and Selective Academic Programs. 

If you have not started your application for admissions, you may still Apply for Signature Scholarships and Selective Academic Programs. First, you'll need to create an account. Be sure to use the same email address you plan to use for your admission application. Once logged in, select Start New Application and choose Signature Scholarships and Selective Academic Programs Application.

Required scholarship application materials:

  • Completed application for admission by November 15
  • Two letters of recommendation (two recommendation letters from your admissions application or two additional supplemental letters)
  • List of activities
  • Essays (number of essays depends on which program you choose to apply for)
