Appalachian's highly competitive First-year Scholarships consist of merit-based and need-based opportunities and provide varying awards ranging from partial to full institutional costs.

November 15 - Submit the application for admission
November 30 - Submit the additional steps for the Chancellor's Scholarship (and admission to the Honors College), Beaver College of Heath Sciences and Reich College of Education

Chancellor's Scholarship
The Chancellor’s Scholarship is the most academically competitive merit-based scholarship at Appalachian, designed for students with ambitious academic goals.

Dr. Willie C. Fleming Scholarship
The Dr. Willie C. Fleming Scholarship is awarded to students based on their academic excellence and their desire to be change agents through leadership, scholarship and community involvement.

Bill and Hughlene Frank Scholars Program
The Bill and Hughlene Frank Scholars Program is for students who are graduates of a high school located in Guilford County, North Carolina.

Impact Scholars Program
Impact Scholars Program scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated leadership potential, academic excellence, and a willingness to create positive change.

Heltzer Scholarship
The Heltzer Scholarship covers approximately 75% of in-state tuition and is renewable annually for 4 years/8 consecutive semesters (fall and spring only). It is intended for students who demonstrate financial need.

Alumni Memorial Scholarship
The Appalachian Alumni Memorial Scholarship is awarded to children of Appalachian Alumni. $4,000 each year for up to 4 consecutive years (8 semesters). Awarded to 5 students each year.

New River Light and Power Scholarship
The New River Light and Power company awards scholarships to incoming first-year students (high school seniors) from Watauga County.
$4,000 each year for up to 4 consecutive years/8 semesters. Awarded to approximately 5 students each year.
